XpressChek background check

While volunteers/parishioners can still opt to apply for a background check through the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) or a local municipal police force, the cost for XpressChek is $25 (volunteers) and $29 (clergy and employees) + HST. Fees for OPP background checks vary by detachment, while, for example, Kingston Police charge $40.

The benefit to using XpressChek is that the turnaround time is 24 hrs as opposed to a possible 4-6 weeks when applying through the OPP or a municipal police force. Parishes will be invoiced for background check fees, alleviating any direct cost to volunteers or employees.
