Celebration on June 24th a Great Success
The service began with the usual buzz of conversation, and organ music, but it was no ordinary service.
Bishop Michael ordained Robert Porter to the Priesthood, Ada Rochford to the Diaconate, Sharon Dunlop to the Vocational Diaconate and Roger Hammond to the Vocational Diaconate. Timothy Kuhlmann from the Evangelical Lutheran Church was received into the Anglican Church. The Ven. Reg Gilbert was made Canon of St. George`s Cathedral, and as well, Canon Andrew Chisholm was made Archdeacon of Leeds & Grenville and the Rev. Brad Smith was made Archdeacon of Ontario.
Bishop Peter Mason preached and spoke about "The True Lifeboat" a sermon that pulled no punches, and talked about our changing church, and the changing times we live in. You can read all about the sermon in an excellent article by Francie Healy. Be sure to click here to read it!
But the day was really about celebrating our new Canon, Priest, Deacons, and Archdeacons. Congratulations to one and all. An image gallery is attached so scroll down and click on one of the thumbnail images to peruse the image gallery. The excellent pictures were taken by Francie as well. Our trivia question for today, is: can you identify the Archdeacon in the hat?
