Organist and Chior Director - St. Georges Trenton

logoJoin the ministry team at St Georges in fostering a welcoming and warm worship setting that helps the congregation encounter God, and encourages them to grow in their faith, and to go from this place to make him know in the world. St George’s motto is “To Know Christ, and make Him Known”.

We are looking for a faithful leader who will be able to bring together; traditional organ performance abilities, experience with an electronic keyboard, the ability to lead a volunteer choir, and the leadership of various other instrumentalists and vocalists(at this time mostly guitarists, however others are encouraged).

The church organ is a newly restored dual manual, 18 stop, full foot-pedal, Edward Lye and Sons pipe organ and the keyboard is a Yamaha P250 Electronic Piano. The volunteer choir that meets on Thursday nights for rehearsal features 12 to 15 mixed voices.

The music at the church features a mix of traditional hymns and more modern praise music. We maintain a CCLI license and use projectors for lyrics, so music from many different sources is possible and expected. This means recorded video and audio streams can also be used if appropriate, although live music is the norm. High quality support and enhancement of the communities worshiping life, is the objective of the musical program.

The Music Director’s duties will include playing for the weekly 11:00 a.m. Sunday Service, leading the choir on Thursday nights (approximately 2 hours), playing for funerals and weddings and special Holy Days (Christmas, Easer, Patronal Festival), and choosing , in consultation with the Incumbent, the hymns.  Planing and preparation of special music and anthems for our services is also expected. A new worship service at another time is also in the planning stages.

Though hired by the Wardens, in consultation with the Incumbent, the Musical Director will report to our new Incumbent, The Rev Steve Timpson.

Applicants will be required to submit and conform to the Screening in Faith protocol of the Diocese of Ontario (police background check, interview, review and signing of the Sexual Abuse Protocol).

We are searching and praying for just the right person. If you feel that God is leading you in our direction, please talk to us!

Contact the Wardens or Incumbent at , phone: 613-394-4244 or mail: The Anglican Churches of Quinte West, PO Box 21020, Trenton, ON, K8V 6S2.

Office hours are 9 am – 1 pm, Monday thru Friday.
