Inside St. James Maitland, During Worship Service

Written by Rev. Tracey Lloyd-Smith
Inside St. James Maitland, During Worship Service

The Interior of St. James, now 185 Years Old

The photo, taken from the balcony of St. James Maitland, is from our Carillon dedication service with a tribute to Mr. Harry Fox, long-time beloved member.  This church is as unique in atmosphere as it is in historical value and design.  From this balcony, organ and guitar music fills the sanctuary and nave, Sunday by Sunday for our 11 am Communion services.  The Carillon chimes every noon and 6 pm, featuring Westminster chimes followed by a hymn.

Two of our stained glass windows feature Jesus the Good Shepherd and Jesus Standing at the Door Knocking.  In the evenings, these are lit by floodlight from the inside providing a beautiful reminder to all passersby. The congregants take turns decorating the windows with festive flowers, fruits and wreaths during harvest festival and Christmas.  Come by, see us and share with us in worship.  We'd be blessed to have you join us for services.

Shakespeare Sunday at St. John's

Written by Rev. Tracey Lloyd-Smith
Shakespeare Sunday at St. John's

Shakespeare Sunday, an Annual Community Service
Held at St. John's Anglican Church in Prescott -
Photo: Parishioners and Guests Dressed for the Service.

Coinciding with the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival each year, St. John's celebrates a Shakespeare Sunday, with a Morning Prayer service from the time of Shakespeare himself.  Guests and Parishioners get into the spirit by donning the garb of that era and actors from the Festival come and help with readings and singing period hymns at the service.

Dr. David Smith, an avid Shakespeare enthusiast, gives a special address on the theme of one of the plays offered at the Festival.  This year he spoke on Twelfth Night. Following the traditional Book of Common Prayer service, everyone enjoyed a typical and really delicious plowman's luncheon in the hall!   You're welcome to attend our next service - next July, 2012.  Costumes ... optional!

St. Paul's Anglican Church in Cardinal

Written by Rev. Tracey Lloyd-Smith
St. Paul's Anglican Church in Cardinal

St. Paul's Anglican Church, Cardinal
Services, Communion Every Sunday at 9:30 am
With Children's Church on most Sundays.
*Note, every 5th Sunday of the month we worship with other Anglican churches;
Contact our Clergy for details, location: 613/925-0043

St. Paul's Church, located on John Street on Cardinal, holds worship every Sunday with a coffee hour in the adjacent hall.  Our services of Communion are from the Book of Alternative services - and led by one of our clergy team: The Reverend Tracey Lloyd Smith or Rev. Dr. David Smith.  The dress is casual -relaxed and the style of worship is prayerful.  Our music ranges from contemporary through traditional Anglican hymns, sung with keyboard and/or guitar.

Our Sunday school teachers are fully screened and would be so pleased to assist you in nourishing your family in the Christian faith.  On the Sundays when children aren't in their Sunday school, families are encouraged to worship together, showing their children the prayers in the service book and singing together.  We also provide busy bags for our younger guests, found at the entrance to the church. Our teens join in with the parish youth group, which meets twice monthly.

No matter where you are on your journey of faith, we would be honored to have you join us at St. Paul's Cardinal.  More pictures of our parish are available on Facebook: All Saints Anglican Parish, Prescott, ON.

St. James Maitland

Written by Rev. Tracey Lloyd-Smith
St. James Maitland

Our Photo:  The Carillon Dedication Summer 2011.
St. James is The Church of the Chimes on the St. Lawrence!

St. James Maitland - Worships at 11:00 am Every Sunday (Holy Communion)
with our Youth Group meeting on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the Month
in our Parish Hall.

We're growing into a Multi-generational family and the dress is relaxed casual.   At St. James we feature services on Power Point every week with music spanning traditional to modern, on guitar and organ.

Children are a part of our worship!  The power point service makes it easy for them to practice reading and singing along - and they love the pictures as well.  Kids also participate in a children's talk with a coloring page that they enjoy while the sermon is happening.

If you are visiting or just 'shopping' for a church, we'd love it if you joined us.
Contact number: 613/925-0987, Parish Office.
