After a wonderful Christmas celebration in the Parish of the Rideau, we return to worship The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and to acknowledge the Baptism of Jesus. Our 9am service at Holy Trinity in Lombardy and 10:30 in Emmanuel, Portland will reflect on the meaning of Christ, The Light, coming into our lives. We invite you to join us this Sunday into the New Year as we recognize the Epiphany and many epiphanies to come. May you be blessed by the present of Christ in your life in 2012. Happy New Year!
Holy Trinity Happenings!
The Christmas Eve 5:30 pm service gave us all an opportunity to celebrate in the birth of Jesus Christ. The congregation welcomed many visitors and newcomers and delighted in the presence of children. The subdued lighting highlighted the stained glass windows at the back of the altar while the children set the manger at its front. The coming of the Light... into our lives.
We extend wishes for a blessed and joyous New Year.
Holy Trinity Happenings!
Vic has an on-going and engaging ability to warm parishioners hearts and minds with Stewardship. His stories are true reminders of how "everyday" the actions of stewardship can be! We have been given gifts by God to use, share and refine. We practice this at Holy Trinity!
Advent candles of Hope and Love have been lit, reminding us of what we can antiicipate in the arrival of Jesus Christ. Living that out--hope and love--has been demonstrated in the congregation's donations to shelters in Ottawa and Brockville. Jim & Alice and Beryl have generously offered to make the deliveries. How blessed are we to be so fortunate!
We look forward to the return of parishioners who have been away for a variety of reasons giving thanks to God for their well being!
Plans are underway for Budget planning for 2012!

Great Role Models
A parishioner on the Board of Directors for the Smiths Falls Food Bank reported that a very successful Food Drive occurred this past weekend (Nov 26th & 27th). Even in the midst of financial challenges and a depressed market, people generously gave. The Church is fortunate to have such a vibrant and giving role model as Alice.
A new fund-raiser is underway at Holy Trinity. It is also an ecumenical endeavour with the United and Roman Catholic Churches in the area. Thanks to Dolly & Bob for getting the Gift Card sales off the ground! All are welcome! Contact Rev. Valerie for more information at
Shoebox-es have been sent on there next step overseas!
Parish Directory - we are up-dating our directory... it's been a while!
Sunday, Nov 20th Holy Trinity welcomes the North South Singers to participate in worship at the 9 a.m. service. This local group of singers is becoming quite well known and so are delighted to have them and their pianist join us on Sunday! What a great ministry these men offer! Feet and hands were tapping, bodies swaying in the midst of this joyful celebration!
Sunday, Nov 27th, is Undie Sunday. The Parish welcomes warm new/gently used winter clothing, snow suits, coats, mittens, etc. The items will be collected and given to area shelters. This has been an annual tradition for MANY years! MANY of you contributed to this drive. Articles have been sent to the shelters in Brockville and Ottawa! A BIG THANK YOU FOR CARING FOR OTHERS!
Christmas services - Family service at 5:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity, Lombardy; 8:00 p.m. service will be held at Emmanuel, Portland. All are welcome to attend!
