Carol Fitzpatrick has joined the staff as Camp Director for this summer and we welcomed her to the diocesan office this week as she hit the ground running in this very busy role. Please continue to pray for and support the Camp Committee under the Chairmanship of Rev. Blair Peever as future plans are worked out for the camp’s long term future.

Plans continue to unfold regarding the diocesan celebration on June 3rd, 10:30a.m. at the K-Rock Center in Kingston. Shortly you will receive communication from the planning team with details and directions about the day.

Blessings to you all and may you have a Spirit-filled and celebration of the birth of the Church of Jesus Christ this Pentecost Sunday.

Bishop Oulton Consecrated

It was a beautiful morning as St. Georges Cathedral in Kingston filled to be a part of the consecration of Bishop Michael Oulton as a Bishop in our Church.

P1040086

As 11am aproached their was excitement in the air as the Cathedral Church filled, and it did fill to near bursting.   Many began the procession, by gathering together with the then Canon Oulton, and forming a parade from St. Paul's on Queen Street, to the Cathedral.

The organ thundered and the Church bell rang out the good news of a new Bishop in our church, as we made ready to concecrate a Bishop.   The Primate of Canada, the Archbishop of the Provice of Ontario, and Bishops from far and wide came to pray for Bishop Oulton.

It was not only visiting clergy that came to pray and wish Bishop Michael well though.  Just about every Priest, Deacon, and Layreader, of th Diocese was there. There were representives from every parish, and everyone sang with gusto, prayed and wished Bishop Michael well.  In the sermon the Primate reminded us to continue to pray for Michael, and to suport him in his ministry as it develops.

We heard and sang glorious music, both modern and traditional, and the lofty ceilings of St. Georges provided a wonderful environment for so many voices lifted in praise to God.  The choir was made up of members of many of the church choirs in our Diocese, and a praise band provided leadership for the newer music.

After the service we gathered on the lawn of the Cathedral to visit with each other, and wish our new Bishop well.   From lollypops and gummy bears, to tasty morsels of all sort, there was something for everyone.

It was a great begining for the episcopal ministry of Bishop Michael.
